1954 Ford Crestline V8 with a rare dealership display see-through hood
1954 Ford Crestline V8 in Cameo Coral with white roof and the see-through hood that was used for dealership showroom displays to show off the new Y-Block V8 overhead valve engine. The see-through hood was supplied to the dealer if they requested one and it could be painted to match any 1954 paint color and placed on any V8 model car they wanted. When the vehicle was sold the see-through hood ws to be removed and the original factory all-steel hood was to be refitted. At the close of the 1954 year model year the see through hoods were supposed to have been destroyed. It is speculated that out of the supposedly 200 clear insert hoods produced only approximately 20 vehicles remain with this very rare feature.
