Artist's Description
DNA is a long chain-like structure formed by alternating molecules of phosphoric acid and deoxyribose. Each molecule links four substances (adenine, thymine, cytosine, guanine). Each DNA molecule forms a chromosome. The two spiralling chains form a helix. Genes transmitted from generation to generation are different sequences of nucleic acids on the chromosome. (This DNA sample was extracted from an onion.)
