The cannabis plant (Cannabis sativa) contains a group of chemicals called cannabinoids, which produce a relaxing narcotic effect when consumed. Although it is illegal in many countries, cannabis can be taken medicinally for many illnesses. It is considered an excellent pain reliever for certain illnesses including cancer, AIDS, multiple sclerosis and arthritis.
