THOMAS EDISON (1847-1931). American inventor. A young Edison, employed on the Port Huron-Detroit Railroad line in Michigan, is forcibly removed from the train by an angry conductor after some of the chemicals which Edison stored there resulted in a fire in the baggage car, c1862. Wood engraving, French, late 19th century.
