Artist's Description
Dividing cancer cells, coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). At this stage of mitosis (late telophase) a thin bridge of cytoplasm, the intermediate or mid body, is all that links the two daughter cells, which were originally one cell. Magnification x4000 when printed at 10 centimetres across.
