This old barn has seen better days, but with patching and shoring up it is standing the test of time. The bales of hay stacked nearby give a feeling of security to the rancher who awaits the unpredictable winter ahead when conditions require shelter and hay to keep the livestock fat and happy.
Born and raised in the rural ranch country of western South Dakota, Bev Finger developed a love of the wide-open spaces, the prairie, hills, trees, the creeks and rivers, domestic animals and wildlife. This rural area, that some folks called a “God forsaken wilderness,” was Bev’s playground and inspiration for the future. For years she has observed Mother Nature’s moods and atmospheric changes. These elements have become an on-going challenge for portrayal in her works of art.
