Artist's Description
Largest of all the gibbons, the endangered siamang is a lesser ape, not a monkey. They do not have a tail, whereas monkeys have tails of various lengths! Monogamous siamang couples inhabit the tropical forests of the Indonesian island of Sumatra and the Malay peninsula, where they swing hand over hand through the trees. The large inflatable throat sac is very noticeable during their daily singing duets which can be heard over a long distance.
About Margaret Saheed
While photography has always been a passion, my painting adventure began after visiting a wildlife art exhibition in Melbourne, Australia. Exploring ways to create colorful contemporary images featuring animals, flowers and other elements of nature was a new venture for me. Now I am studying the exciting creation of digital paintings. Having graduated from Melbourne University with a BA(Hons) specialising in international relations, I am interested in portraying the world's exotic species. My aim is to capture their unique personalities and hope they will inspire you to learn more about wildlife and conservation. Images Copyright 2024 Margaret Saheed. All Rights Reserved.
