I suppose as we age, we are more aware of the changes we see in ourselves and others. This image tries to capture this effect by sculpting the left side of the face and hair as a young woman and the right side as how she might look as she ages. At any rate, we are all "works in progress".
It was created with a paper mache clay which I make from my own formula, other types of paper, glass, and small bits of mirrors. It was then painted and covered with several layers of a protective coat. The original is not for sale but is an interesting image for prints or for greeting cards.
I have been painting since my late teen years and have also taken up relief and 3 dimensional sculpting in the past few years. I work in all media, oils, watercolor, colored pencil and various clays and glass, sometimes combining the different media forms.
My background includes formal training in painting, drawing and 2 and 3 dimensional design at Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Virginia and Virginia Highlands Community College in Abingdon, Virginia. I enjoy exploring with color, light and design. I have recently added photography to my offerings, finding excitement in occasionally capturing a fleeting "once in a lifetime" image.
