The artist is my son and is very talented. In high school he was accepted by Chicago Art Institute but couldn’t afford the tuition. He graduated from Fredonia State University with a Fine Art degree.
This is a composite shot of the night sky and a separate image of the volcanic plug imaged earlier in the evening. I imaged this the evening after a tour through Warrumbungle Park by an aboriginal guide who lead us into a ceremonial cave where he played the didgeridoo. The whole experience was very surrel, which matched the mystery of these incredible southern skies. The 14 million year-old volcanic plug is a perfect foreground for our 14 billion year-old galaxy. Spending time under these remote night skies helps one understand the Aboriginal concept of "dreamtime".
