Anyone who has spent time at the coast knows that the Pacific Ocean can be any color of the rainbow depending on the clarity of the sky, the time of day and time of the year. While visiting Seabright Beach in Santa Cruz I was lucky to capture the Walton Lighthouse and a few sailboats on a pale green sea. This commissioned picture was painted from my photographs taken on a serene April afternoon.
Inspired by my love of the ocean, western American topography and architecture, I am currently focused on my “Pacific Palette” watercolor series.
Before moving to Santa Cruz, California, I studied early ocean exploration and the geology of this incredible part of the world. My readings ignited a passion in me about our unique position here on earth where two major tectonic plates meet on the Ring of Fire. Born of this fire, California and all the lands north and south of her formed to give us the breathtaking vistas we enjoy each day.
