Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

ALKYONEUS
Inspired by the Athena slab from the Pergamon Altar, at the Acropolis, Athens.
From a frieze depicting Zeus and Athena battling three giants, we see the winged giant Alkyoneus, intertwined with a serpent. The hand pulling his hair belongs to Athena. In the frieze, Alkyoneus stretches toward his mother, Gaia (Earth), as he cannot be killed if he sustains contact with her. Athena will triumph, for she bears with a wreath of victory by a Nike.
Giants were born out of drops of blood from the castrated organ of Ouranos (Heavens), which his son, Kronos, performed with a sickle given to him by his mother, Gaia (Earth). Throughout Greek mythology, giants are portrayed as foes of the gods.
BIO American artist Steve Bogdanoff is a master in replicating the fresco form. Originally influenced by ancient Greek art, Steve's career has flourished over the past 32 years, earning him international recognition in his field. "My initial introduction to fresco art came during my studies of the Minoan civilization, circa 1500BC. The artists on the island of Thera were innovators in utilizing color from the earth, and their free style of drawing and interpretation of subject matter was brilliant. I believe that art as we know it today was borne from these ancient artists, and I honor them through my work." Bogdanoff began detailed drawings of people and scenes at age 6, and painting oil on canvas by age 10, which he continued through...
