I painted this using a reference photo I took during one of my many painting excussions to the Eklutna wild flowers fields, not too far from my home in Wasilla, Alaska. The painting pratically painted itself as I realized that the entire life cycle of the iris was represented in the image--from bud to seed. My eyes opened to the vastness of beginning and end all at the same time in the same place, from the same source. I added the light orb in the background to represent the Source of all life.
