This gorgeous, pendant is composed of a colorful Canadian ammolite doublet cabochon, lovingly cradled in solid Sterling silver wire with fiery Ethiopian opals cascading down one side and sandwiched between delicate herringbone weaves. The pendant comes suspended on an 18" Sterling silver chain and measures 45x30x16mm (1.8" x 1.2" x 0.6"). While the gemstone features vivid orange-yellow-green color shifts and skin-like texture sealed beneath a generous layer of clear epoxy to preserve it's appearance for many years to come.
Ammolite is an opalized form of fossilized ammonite shell, found along the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains in the United States and Canada. The iridescent color of ammolite comes from interference with the light that rebounds from stacked layers of thin platelets that make up aragonite, the primary mineral in the shell.
