I live in Arcadia Valley, southeast Missouri, an area I loosely term "Brigadoon" after the Hollywood film by that name. The area here, in the Ozark Mountains, including the nearby highest point in the state, Taum Sauk Lookout -- some say -- is reminiscent of the highlands of Scotland where the fictional Brigadoon story takes place. As in the film, Arcadia Valley also is not on the map and in our case there actually is even no town named Arcadia Valley -- it's just a place. I studied and taught art at a nearby community college, received...
