Artist's Description
Artwork illustrating the concept of warped space, showing a wire-drawn planetary body distorting the fabric of space, which is represented by a grid. The idea that space is distorted by gravity is a consequence of Einstein's General Theory of Relativity of 1915. The grid of space is like a thin rubber sheet on which objects of varying weight produce smaller or larger dents.
