Artist's Description
SEM of an Assassin bug, (Sinea diadema). An assassin bug lies in ambush for their insect prey and injects its victim with a lethal toxin that dissolves tissue. Although many assassin bugs use their sucking mouthparts for sipping plant juice, some have evolved as predators. When food supplies are scarce, this insect will use a more active routine instead of its ambush approach. Magnification = 75x.
