This is one of three pieces that I am adding to my collection. Once I have received the other two pieces I will be happy to provide a photograph of the display. The quality of the art piece is exceptional. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase even more pieces!

We were disappointed that the name of the artist is cut off and not showing in full. We feel the name of the artist is an important part of it and would love to have it rectified

We live in the desert so the Palm theme resonates. The color scheme is brilliant and perfect. We would like to see more from this artist. Where do we look?

Artist's Description
(Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved) Somewhere between Cincinnati and Indianapolis you will find the 19th century, historic canal town of Metamora, Indiana, There are over 50 shops selling antiques, crafts, fudge or candy and there is even a horse-pulled canal boat to the delight of tourists. While taking a casual stroll down the main street of old wood-frame buildings, I was able to once again step back in time. On a bright, sunny morning this little town was just full of friendly people, nostalgia and a real sense of Americana. Each colorful store was different than the next one, and they are not all just small-time Mom and Pop operations. Take this visual treasure for example. It is being run by ... Auntiques and Uncle Junque.

About Mel Steinhauer
My love for photography began as a boy when I was taught the basics by my father. During a tour of duty with an Army Combat K9 unit in Vietnam, I bought a professional model Nikon SLR camera and dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer when I returned home. A family of my own and a new career put that dream on hold for many years, but I had always enjoyed photography as an art form. Then, after surviving another kind of war with cancer back in 1997, I began to really see the beauty in our world. Ever since then I have been inspired with a new awareness of life and an improved photographic vision. This has compelled me to find beautiful scenes wherever I go and to share my favorite creations with others who may not have the time or...

Beautifully framed shot and I love how you used the gorgeous colors to really make this a striking image! Makes me very nostalgic as I spent many weekends as a child exploring the likes of stores just like this with my mother who was an avid "junker." In fact, my childhood bed was built from antiques she found in 3 different junk shops, then painted white, trimmed the spindles and edges with gold leaf, and painted wonderful flower designs in soft pastels on the head and footboards! v/f

Hey Mel! Haven't visited your gallery lately and the first one I see I LOVE!! ;0) Wonderful image and great title...I see it is on the door. ;0) Now...I've just read your description as I was curious as to where this was and I see it is at Metamora, Indiana. Believe it or not, I've been wanting to go there for a couple of years..just never took the time to get there, but I sure didn't have ANY idea that it had so many retailers there and so touristy. What a pleasant surprise. Thanks for all your mini-travelogues, Mel! ;0) Did I tell you I finally made it to Rabbit Hash? I did and I loved it...however there were about 20 to 40 motorcyclists there at the time. ha. Just couldn't get a good far shot of what I wanted to. Anyway..thank you so much for posting all your treasures here for us to see. ;0)
