This is a pastel of a creek near my lake house. I did the preliminary work from a digital photograph and then back to the studio to complete it. The colors are vivid and in the fall of the year.
Here in the Texas hill country near Lake Travis, there are many little creeks that feed into the Colorado River.
My art depicts my experiences and the items that I love. I create therefore I am happy.
I began painting in oils in the decade of the 60's and creating pictures grew out of my need to have an outlet for my creativity and experience nature.
Painting seascapes helped me to see the creatures on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. Studying under artists that took the class on location was part of my
early training in Galveston and later in Acapulco, Mexico. These days I spend my time near Austin and paint on the shores of Lake Travis. I am expanding my
interests to pastels which is now my favorite medium as pastels are colorful and spontaneous. Furniture shops and the Houston Westheimer Sidewalk art Show were my early venues for selling...
