A hand crafted painting of a vintage lightweight Bates bicycle finished in classic black and chrome with diadrant forks, cottered cranks, Brooks saddle and large flange hubs. I painted this in the early autumn when the bats where still about in the early evening and the leaves where turning crisp like corn flakes. I have carefully applied the layers of glaze and paint to give this painting a deep lustrous finish and to enhance the bold geometric patterns and fine detail. The sides of the canvas are painted so it can be hung directly on the wall with or without a frame. It is signed front bottom right and on the back.

Born in Chester 1960, studied BA Fine Art (Sculpture) at Loughborough College of Art and Design and an MA in Art & Design (Painting) at Leeds Metropolitan University. First worked as a mechanic for London Bicycle Company and then as a ceramic technician for David Hilton Tableware in London for seven years, before becoming a 3D Design and Sculpture lecturer in Oldham, Greater Manchester. Moved to Hampshire to become Head of Art and Design in a Southampton, Sixth Form College and now Head of Art and Design at Peter Symonds College, Winchester.
