A line of small birds scours the beach looking for food on Ocracoke Island Outer Banks. This image was shot during a tropical storm. Wind gusts of hurricane strength were tearing the tops off waves as they broke, returning the spray to sea. This is one of my favorites because of the almost 3D effect. As mentioned, the stormy conditions that were occurring when this picture was taken were severe. I had to shield the camera from the weather to avoid damage. I got wet. The camera always comes first!
