About the Image

Bittersweet Nightshade by Tamara Stoneburner

"I think it pisses God off when you walk by the color purple in a field and don't notice it." (quote from The Color Purple) This is a tenacious bittersweet nightshade vine that has settled into a portion of my hydrangea garden... not very camouflaged, I say. I'll give it this: it does provide wonderful interest in all seasons.

About the Artist - Tamara Stoneburner

Tamara Stoneburner

I am an artist in the Washington, DC metro area who renders calligraphy and illustration for personal commissions (family trees, resolutions, awards, poetry, anniversaries, Quaker wedding documents, etc.) . I also photograph landscapes and capture digital images through scanography (mostly botanical). I find this helps me to hold on to the details of scenes and objects that can be so often overlooked in everyday observation. I'd like to think I take photos and scans as a blind man touches... tracing the contours and textures... feeling the light.
