I think the frame and mat work very well with this, it is really impressive in person. Grouped with a small Grant Wood with high quality lighting it sets the mood for a Georgia farmhouse.
Artist's Description
Black Lake is an actual lake filled with cypress trees in north central Louisiana just a few minutes from Natchitoches. It is so pretty that I took a special trip to photograph a section of the lake which was the inspiration for this piece. Although not depicted, all of my fabric collage originals are framed and ready for display.
About Charlene White
To avoid any misunderstanding, the portrait is me, painted by my good friend and fellow art guild member Margie Tate. Margie did this portrait as a demonstration for an art guild meeting. Having never taken a formal art class, I count myself among artists who describe themselves as “self-taught”, though I am completely aware of the fact that I learn from others constantly. I am fascinated with wire and the magical way it lends itself to being transformed into whatever is in the mind and hands of the person bending and twisting and plying the metal. I have hanging on my wall my first piece of wire art. I keep it there as a reminder of the growth an artist experiences by simply going through the processes that define one’s work....
