Byzantine iconography featuring the Fab Four. I was looking for the distressed look of icons using the images of pop gods who became more famous than forgotten saints and contributed in no small way to the emergence of Russia from oppression.
About Philip Atkinson
Philip Atkinson has a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Victoria. Phil was born in County Durham, England. He grew up one of a family of 10 in a mining village that was condemned and bulldozed out of existence. He then lived in one of Britain's post-war new towns, Newton Aycliffe where he was indentured and served an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering. He is the author of several books and is a member of the virtual Burn Lane Blues Band . Phil's art is influenced by the 1960s, by light, and by the passage of time.
