About the Image

Brave and Noble by Susan E Jones

Carnton Plantation was the home to Carrie McGavock during the Civil War. She served as a military hospital during the Battle of Franklin and her floors are forever stained with blood. Carnton's lawn hosts the largest, privately-owned Confederate cemetery and it is where boys from every state in the south (except Virginia) are buried.

About the Artist - Susan E Jones

Susan E Jones

Susan's style of painting has been described as impressionistic, loose, and charming, capturing subjects near her home in middle Tennessee in simple, broad blocks of color with little use of detail. Although she has experimented with several mediums over the years, she now concentrates mostly in oils. Transparent Oils are her latest passion. And Alla Prima (painting in one session) is her style preference. Susan has studied with Frank Baggett, Kim Barrack, Roger Dale Brown, Connie Erickson, Kay Keyes Farrar, Paula Frisbee, Jean Gauld-Jaeger, Hazel King, Diane C. May, Mary McDaniel, Larry Moore, Haden Pickel, Dean Shelton, Maggie Siner, Dawn Whitelaw, Gary Young, and Dreama Tolle Perry. However her work is still original, very fluid...
