What started as a passionate hobby in 1980 soon blossomed into a full-time career. In 1988 Daniel had four images featured in the Kentucky Derby Museum. Work with the horse racing industry soon followed and in 1990 he was asked to be official photographer for the Kentucky Derby Festival. He held that position...

Beautiful on so many levels!
Daniel Dempster replied:
Thank you Paul. I have photographed a lot of bird dogs over the years but this image is special to me as the dog in the pic was my dog Mandy. She was the best bird dog I have ever had but she went blind when she was about seven years old due to an auto-immune problem. Mandy died about three years later. She was a real sweetheart and could find birds when my friends setters,, etc were shut out. I once lost her in a bunch of cedars. She was on point on a covey of quail uphill from me. She saw me looking for her and moved her head just enough to ring the bell on her collar. I still wonder if she did on purpose to get my attention or if it was just a coincidence.
