Staring into pools of gin clear water has always been something of a meditation for me. The mysterious distortions lend themselves to a natural form of abstraction, bending shapes and colors, twisting forms, blending and changing them until a flicker of odd movement brings the surreal back to reality. For an angler or fisherman this is often accompanied with a shocking surge of adrenaline that can make your hands shake so much it can be tough to put any grace into your next cast.

As an avid fisherman and sportsman Mike Savlen's work is a natural expression of his inner passion for the outdoors. He can paint anything on anything in any medium and constantly experiments, grows and evolves as an artist.
