I have always admired Frank Stellas early ‘Minamalist’ 1960’s paintings, where he echoes the shape of a canvas simply by painting its contours. This painting explores the idea of repeating the silk shirts contours and colours, whilst also suggesting air currents and washing on a line drying in the breeze. The races are defined in ‘jaunty’ horizontal rows of florescent green shirt outlines. The first race meeting of five runners is at the top, I had two winners on this particular Saturday using a Fibonacci staking method in the first and fifth races.

First worked as a mechanic for London Bicycle Company and then as a ceramic technician for David Hilton Tableware in London for seven years, before becoming a 3D Design and Sculpture lecturer in Oldham, Greater Manchester. Moved to Hampshire to become Head of Art and Design in a Southampton, Sixth Form College and now Head of Art and Design at Peter Symonds College, Winchester.
