On the way up to Wayah Bald, highest mountain in the western North Carolina Appalachian Mountains, this scenic cabin still stands after years of storms and snowfalls. Captured here on the day after the first snowfall of the winter season and presented in a fine art oil painting style. Built in 1916, Wilson Lick was the first ranger station of the newly formed Nantahala National Forest. The Forest's first District ranger, Grady Siler, lived at Wilson Lick from 1917 through 1918. In 1929, Gilmer Setser lived at Wilson Lick with his wife and daughter.
