Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

California Chrome is one of the most impressive Thoroughbreds that I have seen race in quite some time. His owners, trainer and personal stories are even more impressive. I admired the "old school" approach of his trainer and "regular guy" owners. This was the horse that I had hoped would finally win the coveted Triple Crown, but unfortunately was unable to win the last leg at the Belmont Stakes. In a different time with the same horses running all three races, it might have been a different story. It's hard not to choose him to draw with all his flash and "chrome". He is truly a great horse and runs with a lot of heart. I truly do enjoy drawing horses, and this guy is one of my favorites!
I have done many animal portraits over the years and like to work from photos, but it always helps to meet the actual animal to capture his or her true spirit. Feel free to email me if you have an animal you would like to have captured art forever.

Drawing and painting animals has always been my favorite choice in art and have been drawing since I was old enough to pick up a crayon. Art is part of what I do, not just something to do. I hold a degree in Commercial Art, worked in graphic and commercial art for several years, and studied Studio Art at the University of California, Riverside. My favorite subjects are animals, especially wild animals and birds. I have recently completed several hummingbird works and have been lucky enough to have my work selected for the Rockport-Fulton Hummer Bird Festival T-Shirt Art contest for 2014 and 2015. More recently my work titled "Catch of the Day" was selected for the 2016 Port Aransas Whooping Crane Festival T-Shirt art. I also enjoy...
