The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back.   The wooden frame includes a hanging wire for easy mounting on your wall (see photo on the left).

Cameron Mitchell (1918-1994), as Buck Cannon, in David Dortort's "The High Chaparral." He appeared in all 97 episodes filmed. Mitchell had a very spotty movie career, mixing "A" films with European made grade Z schlock.

He first became interested in acting while in high school, where a teacher lent him money to attend a New York theater school. While there he wrote hundreds of letters to agents, actors and producers; while toiling long hours in various jobs to pay living expenses.

One actor did respond, the distinguished Alfred Lunt (1892-1977), husband of acting partner, British born, Lynn Fontanne (1887-1983). Mitchell had critiqued Lunt's work in "The Guardsman" (1931); his only talkie. Lunt invited him to an audition.

Later Fontanne told Cameron that "Acting is your llfe's work. and you're not only going to be a good actor but you're going to be a great one."

She changed his name from Mizell to Mitchell.

I first became obsessed with photography and motion pictures while growing up in post WW2 Manila in the Philippine Islands in the late 1940's/early 1950's. Film noirs were a particular influence. But my first love remains the theater. I acted in numerous amateur productions from 1958 to 1978. In 1979 I earned a MA in drama from the University of Arizona; earlier getting a BA in English from the University of Minnesota, where I co-founded the first film society on campus and ran it for four years. While at the U of A, I studied with the master black and white photo essayist W. Eugene Smith (1918-1978) the last year of his life.
