Outside stairs lead up to these rooms that use to house the Pissaro family where Camille grew up in St. Thomas. For many years this space has been an art gallery. On one of my visits I saw this bird on the window sill next to a vase of flowers and thought that would make a painting.
Robert Rohrich began painting as a student the Cleveland Institute of
Art as a watercolorist influenced by Winslow Homer.
He began Plein-Air oil painting as a member of the Garrison Art Center
located on the Hudson River in New York state.
Now as a permanent resident of Florida his current body of work is
devoted to the Florida Landscape.
His subject matter is the east coast shoreline, marshes and nature
preserves, and meadows threatened by development.
He frequently paints at marines & local waterways and is always
attracted to architectural subjects.
