Artist's Description
This photo was taken just before a huge thunderstorm, hitting our area, and am glad I shot this, as after the storm, not a canna or any other flower in our gardens was left unscaled by the rain, wind, and hail. This is what I would call the "calm" before the "storm". Love the backdrop of the dark, ominous clouds, but with the uplifting colors of the green trees and the bright red canna blooms!
About Randy Rosenberger
As a retired teacher, having taught for 35 years, I spend a lot of time in our many flower gardens, with water features, metal sculptures, and many flowering trees, bushes and shrubs. My wife gave me a digital camera for a Christmas present a few years ago, and I started taking photos of the many types of flora and fauna on our property. This became an enjoyable hobby for me, to enjoy the outdoors, and capture some of the beautiful photo opportunities that our gardens have provided. I especially love close-ups of flowers and insects, and basically anything that has something unique to capture on film. I have entered several contests in our area, and even won some recognition with my photos. I have posted on Face Book and am now...

Had a few minutes to browse through your portfolio and this one especially caught my eye! It stands out due to the unusual contrasting colors and the eye moving composition! A beautifully rendered piece Randy!

Thanks much John, as with most cannas, they have multiple roots that stem from one single plant. The first year I planted a hundred bulbs in a mound elliptical shape, and when digging them up for replanting the next year I got nearly 1000 tubers, and needless to say I replanted but gave several away.
