As a child, I always loved riding the carousel and picking out my favorite, most colorful horse to ride on. I still marvel at carousel horses and the artistry involved in making them. This painting is my "fantasy" of what happens when the horses are done with their "job"; they become real horses and retire in this beautiful setting! They are painted in great detail,with bright colors, and I painted their "decor" with metallic acrylic pigments, so that they stand out with a bit of metallic sheen that is not evident in the closeup images. It is painted on gessoed hardboard. It is beautifully framed( in a walnut colored frame), so if you purchase, you may have the frame as well for an additional $75.00. If you wish to see additional close ups of the painting and of the frame, just send me an email and I will be happy to provide them for you.

My first career is that of a registered nurse; after 15 years working as a health professional I decided to become a stay-at-home mom for my two children. Always having been an artist of sorts; prior to nursing school I had been a stained glass artist for many years and have always "dabbled" in creative endeavors. It wasn't until I started taking drawing and painting classes several years ago that I discovered my love for painting, which I have been immersed in ever since. I have sold work while exhibiting in area art shows, restaurants and local galleries. I love nature, the outdoors and the ocean, so a lot of my work reflects that; I also love to inject humor and whimsy into my paintings when the mood strikes me....
