So majgical! Looking at your art I am being taken back to my chilhood.i too have been writing since I was a child! my favorite things to do were drawing and writting cartoon and stories! I would totally be into an other wold! That have not changed! vf So tell me more about the Casiolgye..how did he come alive?
Frank Robert Dixon replied:
Casolgye originally started as a demonstration painting for an Illustration Class I teach at a community college. But just painting a castle seemed a little boring ... so I decided it needed a face. I used the face of a man I had taken photos of. And then when I got to the mouth I got the idea to make it a doorway. Originally below the castle was ground that I painted kind of a blue for night time. But the blue looked like water, so I turned it into water. That is the unplanned progression of how this painting developed. I called the painting "Castle guy" for awhile, and I still call it that, but I changed the spelling to look more intriguing-- so "castle guy" became "Casolgye"/

Most of my paintings express my "awe" of the incredible real world AND the fantasy world I can create when I put my imagination down onto paper. Thank you for telling me you appreciate and enjoy this painting of a "castle creature".

I just stumbled upon your work and was captivated by it. There is quiet wisdom in trees and you seem to give that an outlet in your work. This one reminded me of Harry Potter and Dumbledore. Absolutely beautiful !

Wonderful. Is there a resemblance to yourself in the eyes? I like your use of colors and textures. The hair is fabulous. Thanks for your comments on my work. f/v
Frank Robert Dixon replied:
There is not an intentional resemblance to my eyes, but I agree they do look some like my eyes. Thank you for your comments.

You are so talented and creative! I would love to be inside your brain to actually watch what takes place as you design a new fantasy creature! I would bet, if closely observed, one could almost see lightening bolts deep within your pupils and tiny puffs of smoke waft from your ears. :)
Frank Robert Dixon replied:
Your comment "one could almost see lightening bolts deep within your pupils and tiny puffs of smoke waft from your ears" I think is wonderfully imaginative. I do love creating unique fantasy images, but I am afraid it is not quite as fantastical and dramatic as you describe. The images oftentimes start out a little more ordinary, and I think about the image, and over many hours, days, and sometimes weeks I look for and find fun, unique fantasy things to add to it. I do have fun as the image progresses tell if finally feels magical and satisfying to me.
Monte Arnold
