About the Artist

Jacob Sela

I was born in Israel in the middle of the twentieth century, and at the age of 13 I got my first camera. Since then I do not stop taking pictures, especially on trips and family events. Photography has always been a hobby and a passion, and being a researcher (I have a M.Sc. degree in neurophysiology) provided endless opportunities for self-study and experimentation. In 2005 as I was arranging my photography collection, before deleting a pretty mediocre photograph, I decided to try and stretch its image processing parameters to unreasonable extremes. The result was surprising eliciting admiration calls from my wife who was peering over my shoulder. The picture, of course, remained in my collection as well as many other photographs...
