Laurel Anderson-McCallum

Laurel began painting when she was fifteen, using oils on canvas. She found it to be therapeutic - both calming and intriguing. It was a beautiful and fascinating way, she says, to find the centre within the self, and then, to connect with others. Laurel was born in Winnipeg. As a young girl, she was fascinated to visit her grandmotherís garret on Polson Avenue and be drawn in to paintings on walls, little art books, and daring nudes on charcoal paper. Maj-Lis Klemming, Laurelís grandmother, studied with George Swinton and enjoyed successful art showings of her work.
