I had a conception that water colour is not good for still life. Now you've proved me wrong mate!

YOUR work is great as ever! I enjoy viewing your site immensely. P.S. I did not get any "knuckle dusters" yet. For some reason, I have always wanted a pair. Strange for a girly-girl like me, but true....

Beautiful, smelly shoes - great work, Ken, I just love the light in that shadow - you have great talent for texture & composition!

Yes, this works very nicely in terms of composition and overall design.

Wow, Ken - you just keep getting better & better. Sure would be hard to pick a favorite but I think this one would be at the top of the list. The lacework in this is fabulous as is the overall painting. Like an old pair of worn out jeans, sneakers in this condition are just impossible to toss out - it's not until they reach this point do they truly feel broken in. And like Betty said, they do appear quite odiferous. :)

The artwork is beautiful. I think it would be excellent on a canvas. I have been considering a second order. I am in awe of the artist.

Artist's Description

The Chuck Taylor All-Star Tennis Shoe was introduced in 1917 and changed the face of sports footwear for generations. They are still popular today and remain relatively unchanged although their country of production is different. These are a pair of my old beat up "Chucks" that just beckoned to be painted. I was going to up the values of the shoes a touch in this composition but I kind of liked the subtle glow that was achieved by keeping the shoes lighter so I left it in its current state. The piece is painted with 18th century reproduction watercolor paint on Arches 140# paper.
