Artist's Description
Church at Frogmore Plantation
Frogmore Cotton Plantation & Gins, located at 11054 Hwy 84, Frogmore, LA. Frogmore is very close to Ferriday, LA and about 19 miles West of Natchez, MS.
Frogmore Plantation is a very modern working plantation about 1800-acres in size and has 19 restored antebellum structures that date from 1790 to 1900. Very comprehensive guided tours are given and fully explain the causes and effects of the changes taking place on a working cotton plantation from the 1700s through today. The Frogmore tour is unique in that the owners are the costumed guides along with other members of their staff. Those taking the tour will receive a very thorough explanation of slave culture and the plantation system in America based upon narratives from former slaves and extensive archives. Rand McNally has listed the Frogmore Plantation As A Must See Site.
