Kennywood Park located near Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania has some of the oldest roller coasters in the world, the Jack Rabbit is still in use today. It is a wooden coaster built around 1920, it's largest drop is only 70ft., but double dip hill will have you hoping out of your seat. The Jack Rabbit, unlike new roller coasters, has just a lap bar to hold you in. Having the extra room in your seat I'm sure really makes the air time seem like even so much more. This coaster is certainly a landmark and a historic site. It's amazing the awards and recognition the Jack Rabbit has gotten over the years.
I grew up less than 2 hours away from Kennywood Park and we went every year since I was maybe 5 or 6 years old. I have several memories of this coaster, one being there was always a line to ride, but that never took to long and it was always worth the wait. I have been a photographer for nearly 20 years. I have worked in a studio setting as well as out doors with natural lighting. I prefer to not edit my photos unless it is for creative purposes. In the warmer months I am very active outdoors and am rarely found with out my camera in tow, which has given me the opportunity to photograph some great finds.
