Artist's Description
A sailboarder cautiously examines the surf before venturing in on Ocracoke Island Outer Banks North Carolina; available as a traditional fine art photography with artistic styling version; 8193.
I have always liked this picture because of the story behind it. The photo was taken during the time of a tropical storm as it passed over the Outer Banks.
I watched as this sailboarder came down to the beach and enthusiastically prepared himself and his equipment for an adventure in the surf. Once ready though, he seemed to change his mind. He stood there for a long time watching the violent stormy surf. He did eventually venture out, but quickly came back onshore because the wind was too severe and the waves too choppy for him to get a good ride. This photo was taken on Ocracoke Island on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The picture was given artistically altered a little to give it a dreamy, surreal look.
