I had held off purchasing any Super Bowl LVIII collectibles or memorabilia until I found something that I thought was just “awesome”. When I saw this SI Cover, I knew I had to have it. Honestly it’s one of the best photos I’ve ever seen. Along with the captions it captures what Super Bowl LVIII was all about. Your Photog was in the right place at the right time and did a great job of capturing what Chiefs fans all across the country felt at that moment. As you can see I had the perfect place for it, it makes this wall complete and up to date.

"Corn On The Cob" won second place in the Fine Art America contest "Whimsical" January 12, 2016. My thanks to everyone who voted for this little guy .. and also to our group administrator, Nancy Robinson, for all her hard work. Congratulations to the first and third place winners, Diane Diederich and Joy McAdams.
Handheld image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 60mm Nikon macro/micro lens. Shutter 1/640, aperture f/13, exp -.33, iso 200. Minor cropping and levels work in Photoshop.
About Lois Bryan
Welcome! I"m a photographer and digital artist living in the Mid-Atlantic area of the US. Drawing and creating my own little sketchy worlds are some of my earliest memories. Life did what it does and the art fell away, but I reconnected when digital photography was introduced. I enjoy adding to my love of photography by tinkering with computer art programs including Photoshop, Corel Painter, Rebelle and others , though I do not use Ai / Artificial Intelligence. I also love working completely freehand with no photo reference involved. All of which is allowing me to circle back to a semblance of my days of sketching and painting traditionally. Please be aware that we are currently experiencing a glitch in our system. The images in...

I just got a macro lens and staring to look at what 'tiny landscape' photographers choose to photograph. This guy looks like he wants to say something. I'd like say to him 'open your mouth and say Ah." Have you seen the movie Ants? He look just like the bad ass grasshopper on that movie. Thanks for the inspiration.
Lois Bryan replied:
Hi Debbie!!!! Wishing you tons of fun and enjoyment with your macro lens ... it's a whole different ball game!!! Glad you enjoyed my little friend here ... he was so patient with me ... I had so much fun with him!!!
Joe Jake Pratt

LESLIE CROTTY
LOIS, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PORTRAIT OF THIS GRASSHOPPER! THE DETAIL IS FANTASTIC, AS WELL THE COMPOSITION! WITH THE BRIGHT YELLOW FLOWERS IN THE BACKGROUND GOING SOFTLY OUT OF FOCUS AND THE GRASSHOPPERS EYES RADIATING, POPPING OUT OF THE IMAGE ITSELF, MAKE THIS ONE EXCEPTIONAL CAPTURE NOT SEEN TO OFTEN! INDEED, THIS IS A DEFINITE "NATURE POSTCARD, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC MAGAZINE PHOTO AT IT'S BEST" BEING AT THE RIGHT PLACE, AT THE RIGHT TIME, HELPS ALOT!, LES (F/V)
Lois Bryan replied:
Thanks, Leslie ... you've reminded me that I have several more shots from this great opportunity ... I should hunt them up!! Probably a post-able capture or two in there!!!! Thank you again!!!
LESLIE CROTTY
LOIS, ONE OF MY FAVORITES IN YOUR'E COLLECTION. UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL, JUST THE WAY I LIKE THEM! YOU REALLY CAPTURED THIS GRASSHOPPER. THE DETAIL ON HIS FACE AND ANTENNAS IS VERY SHARP WHILE EVERYTHING ELSE GOES SLIGHTLY OUT OF FOCUS. BEING THAT I SHOOT ALOT OF MACRO I WAS WONDERING IF YOU USED ANY EXTENSION TUBES OR JUST THE MACRO LENS IN THIS SHOT! IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER, GREAT SHOT! ON MY FAVORITE LIST AND VOTED TOO! LES
Lois Bryan replied:
Leslie, thank you!!!! This guy practically posed for me ... I had a lot of fun with him that day. On this one, no I did not use extension tubes ... I was using the 60mm at the time, so I was very much IN his face ... I think that accounts for the shallow dof, as I see I noted I was shooting on f/13. Most of my tight macro work is now done with the Nikon 105mm and one or all three extension tubes ... I'm using the Promaster Spectrum for Nikon. I find them to be VERY frustrating ... but when everything comes together, SO rewarding!!! Thanks again for your visit and note.
Lois Bryan
Neal, thank you so much for the feature in "Macro Photography"!!!!

Lois Bryan replied:
Hi Bill, thank you!!!!!!
Byron Varvarigos
Great shot, Lois, perfect focus, and I could swear I detect a smile! fv
Lois Bryan replied:
Byron, thank you ... I have to tell you ... the secret to good focus is a subject WHO HOLDS STILL, lol!!!!!! This guy was completely oblivious to me!!!!
Theresa Tahara
Great capture, Lois. He does look like he is nibbling. f/v ;-)
Lois Bryan replied:

Nancy Rucker
Ha ha, I LOVE this, I tried to do a similar pic with my tiny camera, of course it didn't work... this is sooo great!! It looks like he is sitting inside a Lilly! Your photographs are Amazing!!!
Lois Bryan replied:
Hi Nancy ... he WAS inside the lily ... goofy thing ... and he just sat there for the longest time, munching away!!!
