About Charles Smith
I'm a native Northwesterner (from eastern Washington State) and find much of my inspiration from the beautiful setting in which I live and my Native American heritage (Oklahoma Cherokee). I've been drawing since before I could write and began painting not long after that. I'm mostly self taught and don't really believe in putting myself in any category. Landscapes are my first and deepest love although I also have enjoyed painting portraits and animals as well. I started out with oil paints but have since switched to acrylics since I love their ease of use and immediacy. I've also been using watercolors as a sketching medium and have really come to enjoy the spontaneity they allow me. In terms of style I tend to expressionism instead of a...
