About Rudy Browne
Rudy Browne grew up in a musical household; all his siblings were musicians. His father believed there was music to satisfy every taste, from classical to country and even jazz. He grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and was mesmerized by the sights and sounds of The City. During the mid 1950’s and early 60’s, the Bay Area was electric and alive with jazz. From the Burma Lounge in Oakland to the coffee houses in North Beach. The landmark clubs: The Blackhawk, Jazz Workshop, El Matador and Jimbo’s Bop City headlined the biggest names in jazz. Browne’s passion for jazz was ignited after hearing Lionel Hampton’s recording of “Midnight Sun.” As he states, “the resonant and mellow sound of the vibraphone became my signpost for jazz.” ...
