This is a painting of a small rural store a few miles from my studio that sells a little bit of almost everything. I painted it near sunset after a rainshower. If you look closely, you can see a couple of puddles. Although the store was closed, I added a dog and a couple of chickens in the foreground to give it a bit of life. It's titled "David Pace's Gro" because that's what my nephew always called it, never adding to the sign on top to make it "Grocery".
Doug was born in North Carolina, USA, and has lived there all his life. He graduated from the University of North Carolina with a degree in Industrial Relations and worked for many years as a clinical social worker in a mental health facility while continuing to paint and draw as a hobby and avocation. Since retiring in 2003, he has devoted more time to these endeavors and has met with increasing success in exhibiting and sales.
