I hadn't been here in several years, so I couldn't remember where the viewpoint I was looking for was. I arrived early, way before the sun, and began stumbling around in the dark looking for the place I wanted to set up my camera. I checked all of the "approved" views along the paved walking path, but I came up empty. So I ventured off the path and edged closer to the rim of the canyon. Not the most nimble of photographers, I tried to keep a respectable distance from the edge, where a fall would be deadly. Here a fall would be merely painful. I set up my camera and waited for the sun to peek over the La Sal Mountains and illuminate the canyon walls. I didn't have to wait too long.

I'm a photographic artist based near Nashville, Tennessee. I love to travel and have been from border to border and coast to coast all across the United States. And everywhere I go, I take my camera and try to capture the many beautiful sights my home country has to offer.
