This is an outstanding piece of work. The aura of Powell River with its resident fishing boats is portrayed beautifully. The vessel “Shirley” is very thought provoking to me personally.

I am very pleased with the quality of the product, and the gift recipient loved it and brought them to tears as it was a sentimental gift.

Artist's Description
Scotty's Castle is a two-story Mission Revival and Spanish Colonial Revival style villa located in the Grapevine Mountains of northern Death Valley in Death Valley National Park, California, U.S.. It is also known as Death Valley Ranch. Scotty's Castle is not a real castle, and it did not belong to the "Scotty" from whom it got its name.
Construction began on Scotty's Castle in 1922, and cost between $1.5 and $2.5 million. Prospector, performer, and con man Walter Scott born in Cynthiana, Kentucky, also known as Death Valley Scotty, convinced Chicago millionaire Albert Mussey Johnson to invest in his gold mine in the Death Valley area. By 1937, Johnson had acquired more than 1,500 acres (610 ha) in Grapevine Canyon, where the ranch is located.
After Johnson and his wife made several trips to the region, and his health improved, construction began. It was Mrs. Johnson's idea to build something comfortable for their vacations in the area, and the villa eventually becam...
About Heidi Smith
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I have a long-standing interest in photography. I had my first camera since before my teens. I used a (Minolta) film camera up until about 8 years ago when my camera failed to function while on a trip to Yellowstone National Park. Although a little intimidated, I then ventured into the world of digital photography and I've never looked back. My passion is nature. I started out primarily photographing flowers, plants, and critters that I would find in my garden. I love gardening and the great outdoors. I am always planning my next adventure, and I'll always have my camera in hand. I'm already...

Love it, been there, we had a couples Motorcycle club in OC Road Riders in Orange County, CA, was the first President and one of 5 Charter Members. In the Charter our purpose was to teach and Promote Safe Riding. Road with them 22 years, and built the club up to 87 couples.... We'd have speakers at the meeting like CHP officers who had over 10 million miles without an accident. Held training exercises at Angel Stadium in the Anaheim Police training course, etc.... Every year, we had a weekend camping ride called "Dirty Sox" to a warm springs outside Death Valley in February at the foot of the Sierra Mountains. With a ride into Death Valley and through it. Many times stopping for a tour through Death Valley Scotty's Castle. Sure is nice inside. Really like the processing you did with this, cant physically ride any more at 93. But no one can take the fantastic memories we had with the OCRR club, or tens of thousands of miles across the country and back. Thanks for triggering all those memories, remembering good times, helps anyone feel better....
Heidi Smith replied:
Thank you for sharing that, Bob. I'm so glad this image brings back good memories for you. :)
