Artist's Description

This is the view from the Pennsylvania side looking into New Jersey across the Delaware River. The point of view is from Neshaminy State Park in Bensalem Bucks County PA. I gave the image a more painted artistic look. I wanted to give it a more quaint country folk type of look. This is about 5 miles from the Philadelphia city line. The park was home to the Lenape indians. The Lenape who once lived on the banks of the river used tides to help them harvest fish. They built low fences in the tidal zone. At high tide the fish would swim in and be caught by the fences when the waters receded at low tide. Dunks Ferry Road, which forms the eastern boundary of the park, is one of the oldest roads in Pennsylvania. It was built in 1679 by Dunken Williams to provide access to his ferry which crossed the Delaware River.
