This is one of 195 illustrations from the adventure/fantasy novel titled "The Vine Of Hours." I am the author/illustrator. In the hallway outside the room and down the corridor a ways, disembodied footprints begin to appear in the thick runner carpet on the stone floor. They come closer down the hall for some distance and then turn sharply left making soft brushing sounds. They have stopped in front of a door which now slowly opens. The footprints move into the room. Then the door quietly closes again. This is the third time that has happened this morning. There are no guards stationed in this section of hallway so nothing has been observed, except by one. A minstrel had been sleeping, unnoticed, further down the hall under a long wide table piled high and low with soiled and dirty laundry. He had fluffed up a pile of it under the table as best he could as a makeshift bed and pillow.
