I noted that the color came out differently on this size of bag, it is distinctly more purple. I happen to love that color also--the larger size has perfect color, exactly like the photo. I love both of my bags.

This piece depicts the diversity in our culture in a way that children understand. The animals in this piece are shown with costumes illustrating the different jobs we have in our communities with subtle little cultural differences.. Furthermore, the animals are shown either "helping" or "taking" in this piece. This is to illustrate that we all have choices in our communities to contribute or to not...This multi layered piece was shown with bright colors and animals to attract a child's interest. It's a treasure hunt for people to find all of the little stories happening in this piece.
My inspiration comes primarily from my faith. In addition, my family: husband Drake, sons Isaac and Josiah, and daughter Elise provide tremendous support and encouragement. I also find that I use my background in dance, nursing, music, and theater to more fully explore each subject that I paint. Having traveled and lived in South America, Asia, and Europe, I delight in varied landscapes, cultures, and people. My life experience is varied: I've worked in Cambodian refugee camps with the United Nations, worked for Johns Hopkins on the White Mountain Indian Reservation, been an NICU and OB nurse, practiced dance therapy at a state hospital, and taught many things: piano, ballet, public health, English, and more.
