About the Image

Dreams by Chad Dutson

"Dreams" Salt Lake Valley, Utah, USA 1312-4-0850 [16:9] Utah winters can be harsh, particularly along the Wasatch Front, namely from Ogden to Provo, as when cold winter air thrives, the valleys get literally stuck in muck. Locally it is called an inversion -- essentially it is cold air trapped in the lower portions of the valley, that is unable to escape. Normally inversions occur in January and February, but in 2013 the first inversion came early, during the first part of December. The first evening it slightly broke up I took the time to find a vantage point to capture the clear valley. This perspective is shooting across the valley, from South Jordan, to the east, capturing Twin Peaks.

About the Artist - Chad Dutson

Chad Dutson

Chad Dutson is a wilderness photographer who occasionally ventures into fine art portraiture. He strives to capture the finest nature scenes possible, frequently taking adventures to extreme levels to capture "the shot." He has experienced hypothermia, been stung by a scorpion, waited for hours in twenty degree (20F/-7C) temperatures, nearly stepped on a rattlesnake, and stood for hours under pelting rain through a lightning storm. "Some say they lose themselves in one thing or another; however I find myself through photography, losing only the sense of time. I frequently shoot from sunset to sunrise. Photography brings out the passion I feel for both nature and humanity." -- Chad Dutson Chad's Recent Features: + Bighorn Gallery...
